I write about mornings because they used to be the worst part of my day.
I’m Amy Kinlaw. I run Morning Routine from a small house in Cheshire, Connecticut, where I’ve spent the last five years testing every morning ritual I could find so you can skip the bad ones.

Privacy Summary.
Legal pages are usually written to confuse you. Here’s the honest, two-minute version of what we do and don’t do with your information. The full policy is below if you want the detailed version.
- We only collect what you give us directly. Mostly your email if you subscribe, plus your name and message if you use the contact form. Nothing sneaky.
- We will never sell, rent, or trade your email or any other personal data. Not to brands, not to data brokers, not to anyone. We don’t even share it with our friends.
- We use a small handful of trusted tools (Google Analytics, our newsletter platform, our email host) to keep the site running. We tell you which ones below.
- You can unsubscribe with one click, ask for your data, or ask us to delete it whenever you want. Just email hello@morningroutine.fit.
- We do not run targeted ad networks, sell our subscriber list, or track you across other websites. That’s not what this site is for.
Privacy Policy
This is the full, detailed Privacy Policy for morningroutine.fit (the “Site”), operated by Amy Kinlaw (“we”, “us”, “our”). It explains what information we collect from you, how we use it, who we share it with (almost no one), and what rights you have over your data. Read it once, then know we won’t change it without telling you.
Who we are
This site is operated by Amy Kinlaw, a sole proprietor based in Cheshire, Connecticut, United States. The legal address for any privacy correspondence is:
Amy Kinlaw
2356 Red Bud Lane
Cheshire, CT 06410
United States
For all privacy matters, the fastest way to reach us is by email at hello@morningroutine.fit.
What information we collect
We collect three categories of information, and only when you give it to us directly or interact with the Site:
- Information you give us. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email, the subject category, and the message you send. Nothing else.
- Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our server logs may record your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages visited. This is standard for any website on the internet. We use this only for security and basic analytics, not to identify you personally.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of cookies (see the Cookies section below) to remember preferences and measure traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time, and the site will continue to work.
We do not collect, and we have no use for, the following: your phone number, your physical address, your government ID, your payment information (we don’t take payments through the Site), your health data, your location data beyond the country level, or your behavior across other websites.
How we use your information
We use the limited information we collect for these specific purposes:
- To send you our newsletter, Sunday Morning Notes, if and only if you subscribed to it
- To send you a notification when we publish a new article, if you’ve opted in
- To reply to messages you send through the contact form
- To understand which articles readers find useful, in aggregate (which posts get the most visits)
- To keep the site secure and running properly
- To comply with any legal obligations we may have
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or any other purpose not listed above.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not trade it. Period.
We do, however, rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the Site. They have access to a limited part of your data only to do their specific job, and they are contractually required to protect it. These are:
- Our web host — stores the Site’s files and database (which includes your email if you subscribed). Located in the United States.
- Our email delivery service — sends our newsletter and transactional emails. They process your email address solely to deliver mail.
- Google Analytics — provides aggregate visitor statistics. We use IP anonymization and do not enable advertising features. You can opt out using Google’s opt-out tool.
- Legal requests — we will disclose information only if required by a valid legal process (court order, subpoena) or to protect rights, property, or safety. We will tell you if this happens, unless legally prevented from doing so.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. We use them sparingly:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (for example, to remember if you’ve dismissed a notice). These don’t need consent.
- Analytics cookies — used by Google Analytics to count visitors and understand which pages are popular. Anonymous and aggregate.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or third-party tracking cookies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. The major browsers all let you block, delete, or be notified about cookies. Disabling them won’t break the site.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it to us:
- Newsletter subscribers: we keep your email until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, we keep a record of the unsubscribe (just your email and an opt-out flag) so we don’t accidentally email you again. You can ask us to delete this completely.
- Contact form messages: we keep messages for up to 24 months for reference, then we delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
- Server logs: typically rotated and deleted within 30 to 90 days.
Your rights
You have real, enforceable rights over your personal data, regardless of where you live. We honor all of them for everyone, not just for people in jurisdictions that legally require it. You can:
- Access the data we have about you
- Correct anything that’s wrong
- Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of any communication at any time
- Object to how we process your data
- File a complaint with a data protection authority if you live in a region with one (in the EU, your local DPA; in California, the AG’s office)
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@morningroutine.fit. We respond within 30 days, usually much sooner. We will never charge you for honoring your rights.
Children's privacy
This Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please email hello@morningroutine.fit and we will delete it immediately.
International transfers
The Site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses and appropriate safeguards where required by EU/UK data protection law.
Security
We protect your data with reasonable technical and organizational measures: HTTPS encryption across the Site, restricted access to the subscriber database, regular software updates, and good password hygiene. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we treat your data the way we’d want our own treated.
If we ever discover a data breach affecting you, we will notify you by email within 72 hours and tell you what happened, what data was involved, and what steps we’re taking.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. For significant changes (anything affecting how we use or share your data), we will email subscribers at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
We will never quietly broaden what we do with your data. If something material changes, you’ll hear about it.

Five rules I won’t break.
These are non-negotiable. They’re the reason this site exists and the reason readers stick around.
I test before I write.
Every routine on this site is one I've personally tried for at least 14 days. No theory, no rumors, no "my friend told me" anecdotes. If it's here, I lived it.
No AI drafts. Ever.
Every word on Morning Routine is written by me. I use spell-check and a thesaurus. I don't use ChatGPT to generate articles, intros, or outlines.
I tell you when something is paid.
If a brand sponsors a post or I earn affiliate commission, it's labeled at the top. I won't review products I haven't tried, even if they pay me.
I cite experts I trust.
When I write about science (sleep, cortisol, light exposure), I cite peer-reviewed research, board-certified doctors, and books from credentialed authors. No "scientists say" hand-waving.
I update old posts.
If I change my mind about a routine, or new research comes out, the post gets updated and the change is noted at the top. Old advice doesn't silently disappear.
Quick answers before you dive in.
Do I have to wake up at 5am?
Not even a little. The best morning routine is the one that works with your actual schedule. I have 5am routines because I wake up at 5am. If you wake up at 8, you build an 8am routine. Same principles, different clock.
Is this site for women only?
Nope. I write from my own perspective (woman, mom, runner, skincare nerd), but most of what I cover works for anyone. Routines for kids, men, students, seniors. The body and brain don’t really care.
Do you work with brands?
Sometimes. When I do, I tell you. I never review a product I haven’t used myself, and I won’t write about something just because someone paid me to. Full disclosure on every post that includes one.
Can I share or reprint your articles?
Quote me, link to me, share screenshots. Just don’t copy whole posts. If you’re a publication or podcast, send me an email at hello@morningroutine.fit and we’ll work it out.
Are these routines doctor-approved?
I’m not a doctor or a dietitian. Anything on this site is based on personal experience, books I’ve read, and conversations with experts. If you’re starting something new (fasting, cold plunges, supplements), check with your own doctor first.
I read every email. Even the angry ones.
Whether you’ve got a question, a routine that worked for you, a routine that didn’t, or just want to say hello. I’m a real person and I write back.
